چکیده

Over the last decade, avian influenza (AI) has been considered an emerging disease that would become next pandemic, particularly in countries like South Korea, with continuous animal outbreaks. In this situation, risk assessment is highly needed to prevent and prepare for human infection AI. Thus, we developed matrix a high-risk area of AI Korea based on notion multiplication hazards vulnerability. This consisted pathogenic (HPAI) poultry farms number poultry-associated production facilities assumed as vulnerability, respectively. The average HPAI at 229-municipal level hazard axis was predicted using negative binomial regression nationwide outbreaks data from 2003 2018. two components were classified into five groups K-means clustering algorithm multiplied, consequently producing area-specific infection. As result, Naju-si, Jeongeup-si, Namwon-si categorized areas These findings contribute designing policies minimize socio-economic damages.

Avian Influenza Virus Infection Risk in Humans with Chronic Diseases

Saliva proteins may protect older people from influenza, however, it is often noted that hospitalizations and deaths after an influenza infection mainly occur in the elderly population living with chronic diseases, such as diabetes and cancer. Our objective was to investigate the expression level of the terminal α2-3- and α2-6-linked sialic acids in human saliva from type 2 diabetes mellitus (T...

Risk Factors for Human Infection with Avian Influenza A H5N1, Vietnam, 2004

To evaluate risk factors for human infection with influenza A subtype H5N1, we performed a matched case-control study in Vietnam. We enrolled 28 case-patients who had laboratory-confirmed H5N1 infection during 2004 and 106 age-, sex-, and location-matched control-respondents. Data were analyzed by matched-pair analysis and multivariate conditional logistic regression. Factors that were independ...

Risk factors for human illness with avian influenza A (H5N1) virus infection in China.

BACKGROUND In China, 30 human cases of avian influenza A (H5N1) virus infection were identified through July 2008. We conducted a retrospective case-control study to identify risk factors for influenza H5N1 disease in China. METHODS A questionnaire about potential influenza H5N1 exposures was administered to 28 patients with influenza H5N1 and to 134 randomly selected control subjects matched...

Risk for Avian Influenza Virus Exposure at Human–Wildlife Interface

To assess risk for human exposure to avian influenza viruses (AIV), we sampled California wild birds and marine mammals during October 2005-August 2007 and estimated human-wildlife contact. Waterfowl hunters were 8 times more likely to have contact with AIV-infected wildlife than were persons with casual or occupational exposures (p<0.0001).
